Concept environment painting I made in photoshop. The whole process took me around 8hrs to make. :)
This is a concept piece i did with the idea of an forgotten mutation lab with overgrown foliage and a breached roof.
Started small, with thumbnail sketches to quickly get to visualize the idea in a way. Even though the overall look of the painting changed dramatically later, it sorta helps every time.
Then after some basic 3d modelling for the base mesh and to get the perspective right, came the linework part which was pretty straight forward.
After that came the step taking the most amount of time in my opinion, the grayscale lay in which I basically give lighting info. and also get the see what works and what doesn't and change things accordingly.
Then using the magic of layer modes and even some opaque painting in the end, I complete the painting.
